• Recently did a manual calculation of my tire/driveshaft ratio and found out that I've got 4.70 gears which are pretty rare, only offered on T's in '93 and '94.  Rock on!  The correct method for finding this is on the link below titled Erik's 97 T100.  I always suspected it had the towing package because it came with a factory (leaking) transmission cooler that I replaced with the larger Hayden cooler.

• Recently discovered a way to clear up those UV ravaged yellowed and hazy headlights.  I had some NEVR-DULL sitting around because I wanted my toolbox be shinin'.  Tried it on the headlights and they look new.  Took a bit of scrubbing just like you are polishing metal, and then buff it with a clean cloth.  After about 5 or 6 times of rub/buff, I can nearly see myself in the inside reflector.  Plastic is completely clear and extremely reflective, looks like glass.  I went crazy and did the turn signals, parking lights, and FINALLY got my third brake light looking new again.  Whoa! look at that headlight staring straight atcha.

These pics were taken at good ole' South Padre Island, about 30 minutes south along
the coast from where I live.  It was packed that day, nice scenery though.

• Dynomax Exhaust~  Took it to a muffler shop for 2.25" tubing and a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, had it custom bent and saved some dough over buying a complete system. Total cost was about $175.
• I took out the bend right before the airbox.  Supposedly that thing is really restrictive, and above all the other induction gimmicks (some are ridiculous!), this one is free and yields the best results.   Check out some good info at www.gadgetonline.com Update:  Put the elbow back in.  I'd rather have cool fresh air going in than hot air which therefore contains less oxygen, which means less power.  Do check out Gadget's website, he puts a few hyped up and high dollar filters to the test.  These induction gimmicks are pretty ridiculous.  If you must have one of those pretty filters or cold air intake, make it yourself!  Or go pay over 200 bucks for plastic tubing and a filter that allows more air simply because it lets more dirt by also.  Just my 2 pesos.
• About a year ago a friend pulled out a fog/driving light kit outta his tool box and was like "You want these".   I said sure.  He didn't like them and they sat around for a long time.  They were "Road Boys".  Not exactly on the high end, and the box looked like it was from the early 80's.  They sat in my garage for about a year, pulled them out in May.  Each aluminum housing has a 55W driving beam and a 55w Fog beam.  Box said 100W each, I guess my friend swapped bulbs or something.  Anyways, I want a little extra light that is at least near street legal.  You could roast a marshmallow in front of those 8" Pro-Comps.  I bolted them hanging down from the chrome bumper in front of the plastic valance.  HOLY CRAP these things have got power.  I didn't know 55 watts could be so bright.  It's a smaller beam, but that focused driving light can nearly reach the Pro-Comps.  The fog beam is an extremely bright flat beam, with nearly the same distance.   With these on, it's hard to spot any light given by the normal headlights.  Speaking of headlights, I found a cool way to clear up those plastic headlight lenses.  Scroll up a bit if you missed how to clean them up.
