Surprisingly
the Camry buckets fit nicely, and the height is still relatively the same.
The bench
used a total of 4 bolts, so
obviously some drilling was required since each seat needed four bolts.
Using
the outside rear existing hole
put the seat in the perfect position. The Camry's front brackets angle
down
on the front tabs, just like
the bench's, but the track on the bucket seats is shorter. I carefully
bent them
flat and they sit perfectly
on that ridge you see above. That open hole next to it is somewhat of
a mystery
hole, the bench bolted in front
of the ridge and didn't use that hole. Now that I know it's there,
I'm gonna
plug it up somehow. One
thing I highly suggest, is avoid simply using big washers and figure everything
is ok when bolting these suckers in. Get metal plates and run them
from the front bolts to the rear bolts
underneath the floor. You are bolting these in places that were
not meant for this, and I've heard too
many stories of the seats causing injuries in wrecks. I was
only able to do this on the inside bolts.
I plan on running separate plates for each bolt as soon as possible.
I now have a 2" body lift, so
this should give me a little bit more room to work with that.
Here's a shot of the angle-iron I've got running underneath...
As you can see so far I've only got them running on the inside bolts.
Some
day I hope to get around to putting them on the outside bolts.
The seats were in great condition
but of course had some issues that needed to be tended to.
Well, you can see that my interior is a brown/tan color, and the
seats are gray. Slightly
mismatched but comfortable seats are much better than what I
had. Here's the finished product...
